Meet Anne Andersson

My name is Anne Andersson and I work with health, safety, environment and quality onboard our fleet.

My background is a bachelor degree of Social Science in psychology combined with a Major in Management and Organisational behaviour.  During my last year at university, I wrote my essay “Happy ship – a study of the psychosocial work environment onboard” for Broström Ship Management AB. This lead to a job as Crewing manager at the HR Sea department, where I have worked until I changed to my current postition.

My present job is to secure the vessels performance in quality and safe working environment onboard. It’s very exciting and multifaceted, and every day brings a new experience. Working for an international company means that I have to keep track of a lot of different matters and provide the vessels with the right information, such as when laws or regulations are changed. There is a constant exchange of information between offices and vessels around the world. Quality and safety issues are paramount in tanker shipping, and at Broström we work proactively to constantly stay at the forefront in this respect.

The thing I like the most about my work is the interaction with many different people all around the world, such as the crew onboard, customers, shipping organisations and associations. Also the team I work with is great. The atmosphere in the Broström office is very positive despite the major organisational changes we have been through.

No doubt my best career achievement so far has been the ability to structure my daily work, especially considering the sizeable reorganisation that came with the integration of Broström and Maersk Tankers. Like all integrations, it was very turbulent at times. Structuring my daily work has helped me to solve “tricky issues” and also broadened my contact network with new colleagues.
